Homeopathic Stress Relief Is Possible
Why bother for homeopathic stress relief? Millions of men and women of all ages feel stress regularly or even on a daily, ongoing basis. No one is completely immune.
Life's demands build up, and coping becomes increasingly difficult. Stress is the almost inevitable result. Even young children sometimes fall prey to stress.
Stress is no fun for anyone. It can make life miserable for the person feeling it, but that person's stress can also affect his or her loved ones, friends and coworkers.
Severe cases of stress can be mentally debilitating. And, in addition to its psychic toll, unrelieved stress can lead to ailments such as heart disease, diabetes, thyroid disorders and even cancer. Clearly, stress management and relief are essential.
Treatments for Stress
Traditionally, psychotherapy is used to relieve a person's stress. In some cases, the therapy must be combined with prescription medications to achieve effective relief.
However, some people prefer taking other routes when they're seeking stress relief. Homeopathic stress relief is one of those alternate routes. In fact, thousands of stress sufferers have successfully used homeopathic methods to relieve their stress and anxiety.
Homeopathy has been called the "original mind-body medicine." It aims to stimulate the body's innate defense and healing mechanisms by restoring its vital life forces to their optimal balance.
According to homeopaths, stress (among other things, including diseases and other health conditions) can disrupt the balance of the body's vital life forces. Instead of simply treating or masking the symptoms, homeopathic stress relief also gets to the root of the problem by focusing on restoring that optimal balance.
Homeopathic stress relief is scientifically-based. It also uses some of the safest remedies currently known to medical science. As mentioned above, homeopathic medicines work gently to activate the body's own healing processes.
The remedies used for homeopathic stress relief do not involve any synthetic drugs, and most are derived from plants, minerals or animals. They have no side effects, do not require a physician's prescription, and are safe for pregnant and nursing women, the elderly and children.
Phytotherapy involves the use of plant extracts in medical treatments. Although the underlying ingredients used in homeopathy are sometimes the same as those used in phytotherapy, the two terms should not be used interchangeably.
One of the reasons homeopathic remedies are so safe is because homeopathy uses minute quantities of highly diluted ingredients, in much lower concentrations than those used in phytotherapy.
Rather than overwhelming your symptoms, homeopathic remedies are intended to work with your body and help it make the corrections that are necessary to alleviate your stress.
Different Approaches
Several remedies can be used to provide homeopathic stress relief. Highly diluted kava kava (Piper methysticum) is a fairly typical example.
It can relieve the stress, feelings of anxiety and worry that are so frequently associated with modern everyday life. Depending on the circumstances that triggered the stress (a sudden disturbance such as unanticipated but upsetting news can trigger stress in addition to the "ordinary" rigors of routine life), other homeopathic remedies might be used.
In addition to homeopathic stress relief remedies per se, making some simple lifestyle alterations can help moderate your stress. For example, adopting one or more of the following lifestyle "strategies" can help:
- Make your diet healthier. A healthier diet can strengthen your body's natural defenses and improve your overall health, but it can also reduce your stress and improve your mental outlook. Eat more fruits, vegetables, fish, nuts, seeds and whole grains. Reduce your consumption of animal fats by eating less red meat, fewer processed meats (bologna, bacon, ham and so forth), and fewer dairy products. Avoid hydrogenated fats. Stay away from sodas, whether they're the diet type or they contain sugar. The phosphoric acid in all types of soda can make your bones brittle by leaching out the calcium. You should also try to limit your consumption of processed carbohydrates such as breads, bagels, cakes, cookies, and anything with white flour as an ingredient. Finally, restrict or avoid drinking beverages such as black tea, coffee and soft drinks that contain caffeine.
- Get adequate sleep. People with sleep deprivation (and that includes many of us) have been shown to be prone to stress. Seven to eight hours of sound sleep per night is the goal.
- Exercise daily. In addition to being a risk factor for poor health, physical inactivity makes people more likely to suffer from stress. Working your body can also help your mind.
As you can see, there are many ways to alleviate your stress. There's no need to suffer any longer.
